At The Suicide Club, we invite you to come as you are to connect with your chosen family. But what is a family without that chosen, off-the-wall auntie or sister?
As part of The Suicide Club’s chosen family, we invite House of Vineyard to be not only the entertainment, but also the spirit of the party. They create safe, fabulous spaces for everyone to express themselves through dance. And if you need some guidance on how to express yourself, Amber, the Mother of House of Vineyard, will happily enlighten you.
Part of House of Vineyard’s self-expression is through “voguing,” a dance style that emerged from the Harlem ballroom scene and has an established foundation in the LGBTQ dance scene. Built by the Black and Latino LGBTQ communities, the ballroom community has traditionally been a safe space for those who have not always had safe places for self expression.
As Amber says, “Together we celebrate our light with in, and its the same light which society tries so hard to dim. To Vogue is learn and speak our visual language. Therefore anyone can learn but for you not to be vague...you must stand for something. You must have something to say.”
House of Vineyard has been an integral part of The Suicide Club’s experience, from recurring programming to special celebrations. They bring a unique energy to every event and make everyone feel like they can be part of the show. When Amber and House of Vineyard are present, it feels like a family reunion, but without the drama.
At the Cloud 8 Closing Party on September 16, House of Vineyard will give you a taste of a vogue ball as part of the Come Early Program. Come "Put Your drama in your dance and leave it on the floor!"
